Comparison review
The Xperia 5 has an overall score of 81, which is a bit better than the Xiaomi Mi 5s's general score of 76.4. Xperia 5's design has the same thickness than the Xiaomi Mi 5s, but it's somewhat heavier. The Xperia 5 features just a bit better hardware performance than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because it has 4 more CPU cores and a greater amount of RAM.
Xiaomi Mi 5s counts with a bit sharper display than Xperia 5, although it has a little bit worse amount of pixels per inch in the screen, a quite smaller screen and a little bit lower resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The Sony Xperia 5 shoots a little bit better videos and photos than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because although it has a tinier back camera sensor, and they both have the same (4K) video resolution, the same resolution back facing camera and the same 30 fps video frame rates, the Sony Xperia 5 also counts with a larger aperture.
Sony Xperia 5 has a much bigger storage for games and applications than Xiaomi Mi 5s, and although they both have equal internal memory, the Sony Xperia 5 also has a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 512 GB. The Xiaomi Mi 5s counts with a bit longer battery life than Sony Xperia 5, because it has a 2 percent more battery capacity.
Although Sony Xperia 5 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Xiaomi Mi 5s, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Xiaomi Mi 5s. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Sony Xperia 5, otherwise you can save some money and buy the Xiaomi Mi 5s, giving up some specifications.
