Galaxy S III is a bit better than Xiaomi Redmi 5, with a score of 70.8 against 67.2. Although Galaxy S III is way older and somewhat thicker than Xiaomi Redmi 5, it's construction is still somewhat lighter. Both of these devices use Android OS, but Galaxy S III has the previous 4.1.2 version while Xiaomi Redmi 5 has Android 7.1 Nougat version.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 features a bit better processor than Samsung Galaxy S III, because although it has doesn't have an extra GPU, it also counts with a larger amount of RAM and a larger number of faster cores. The Galaxy S III features a more vivid display than Xiaomi Redmi 5, because although it has a little bit worse resolution of 1280 x 720 and a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a little bit greater pixel amount in each screen inch.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 captures just a bit better videos and photos than Samsung Galaxy S III, and although they both have the same 30 fps video frame rates and the same 1920x1080 video resolution, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 also has a bigger camera aperture for better photos and video in low-light situations and a back-facing camera with way more mega-pixels.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 counts with a much bigger memory capacity to install applications and games than Galaxy S III, because it has a slot for an SD memory card that allows up to 128 GB and 16 GB more internal storage. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 counts with a superior battery performance than Samsung Galaxy S III, because it has 3300mAh of battery capacity.
