Comparison review
The Galaxy Note8 is a little bit better than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, getting a score of 83 against 75.8. Despite being the best phone in our current comparison, the Galaxy Note8 design is a bit thicker and a little bit heavier than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Both phones in this comparison come with Android operating system, but the Galaxy Note8 has a newer 9.0 Pie version while Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has Android 8.0 Oreo version.
Galaxy Note8 has a little faster processor than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Both have the same RAM memory amount and the same number of cores. Galaxy Note8 counts with a little bit better looking display than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, because it has a little bigger screen, a higher pixel density and a better resolution of 1440 x 2960.
Samsung Galaxy Note8 counts with a little bit better memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, and although they both have the same internal memory, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 also has a SD card slot that allows up to 256 GB. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features superior battery lifetime than Galaxy Note8, because it has a 4000mAh battery size against 3300mAh.
Samsung Galaxy Note8 has a bit better camera than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, and although they both have the same resolution back-facing camera, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 also has a much bigger aperture to capture better low-light photography and a lot higher (4K) video quality.
