Samsung Galaxy J8 has a score of 76.7, which is just a bit better than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5's 74.4 overall score. Samsung Galaxy J8's design has the same thickness than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, but it is just a little lighter. Both of these phones use Android OS (Operating System), but the Samsung Galaxy J8 has the older 10 version while Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has Android 7.1 Nougat.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 counts with a bit superior processor than Samsung Galaxy J8. They have the same RAM memory amount and a Octa-Core CPU. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has a much better display than Samsung Galaxy J8, and although they both have a display of the same size, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 also has a better display density and a lot higher resolution of 1080 x 2160.
The Galaxy J8 counts with a little bit better camera than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, and although they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate and the same video resolution, the Galaxy J8 also has a way larger aperture for better low-light captures and video and a much higher 16 megapixels resolution camera in the back.
The Samsung Galaxy J8 features a bit bigger memory capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, and although they both have equal 64 GB internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy J8 also has a slot for external memory cards that supports up to 256 GB. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 features a bit better battery performance than Galaxy J8, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity.
