The Galaxy A8 Star has a global score of 82.1, which is much better than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8's 74.6 score. Galaxy A8 Star is an older and just a little bit heavier device than Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, but Samsung managed to make it just a little thinner anyway. Both devices in this comparison review work with Android operating system, but the Galaxy A8 Star has 9.0 Pie version and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 has Android 10 version, providing a couple additional features and enhanced performance.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star counts with just a little better processing power than Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star also has more RAM memory. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 features a bit sharper screen than Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, and although they both have a display of the same size, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 also has a just a little better pixels density and a slightly higher resolution of 1080 x 2340.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 captures better pictures and videos than Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has a tinier diafragm aperture which is not favorable for low-light photos and videos, and they both have the same 30 fps video frame rates and the same (4K) video resolution, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 also counts with a back camera with lot more megapixels and a way larger camera sensor which provides a much better image and video quality.

The Galaxy A8 Star has a much greater memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, because it has a slot for an external memory card that allows up to 400 GB and 64 GB internal memory capacity. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 features just a little bit longer battery life than Galaxy A8 Star, because it has a 4000mAh battery capacity.
