Sonim XP7 Review

Sonim XP7 is a mid level Android cellphone released many years ago, provisioned with an extremely powerful Quad-Core processing unit speeding at 1200 megahertz, a medium sized 4" multi touch screen, an 8 MP back-facing camera and a 1 mega-pixels front side camera. We will get a better idea about this device's pros when we get into deeper details.

This phone is 5.39" long, but it's only able to pack a much smaller 4 inches display. This phone is a little thick compared to current phones, with a thickness of 0.82 inches. Sonim forgot about weight optimization in this 10.23 ounces phone, much heavier than other similar phones.

This phone ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 8926 chip, holding a high-tech 1.2 gigahertz Quad-Core processing unit and only 1 GB RAM memory which is a little bit disappointing comparing with this phone's awesome CPU. Collaborating with graphic calculations, this cellphone also has an Adreno 305 GPU running at 450 megahertz. The Sonim XP7 has a 16 GB quite big internal memory and although it doesn't include a slot for an external memory card, it is enough to install a couple hundred apps, although it probably wouldn't be suitable if you are planning to install a couple of the heaviest games currently available or taking tons of photos and videos.

The Sonim XP7 has two cameras, an 8 MP back-facing camera and a 1 mega-pixels front facing camera. It can also shoot Full HD 1920x1080 videos. This camera also counts with a couple of interesting features like auto-focus, flash, HDR mode, face detection shooting and geo tagging.

Sonim equipped this cellphone with a good level 4" display, and a 800 x 480 resolution, which makes everything look beautiful. This display uses LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

The Sonim XP7 features WiFi connectivity (which it can share with other devices acting as a router), 4G (LTE) fast connectivity and fast 3G connectivity, supported by HSPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This device works with a Micro SIM card to connect to GSM networks.

The Sonim XP7 uses a 4800 mAh huge Li-Ion non-removable battery that can keep this phone running for many hours and even reach the end of the day without having to charge it. Sonim says this phone has a stand by time of 1000 hours and a talk time of 40 hours. An issue to take into consideration is that this phone's battery is not replaceable so you can't change it when it begins to have trouble holding its charge, even though with so much capacity you will probably buy a new device before it becomes a real problem.

The Sonim XP7 also features lots of great characteristics like NFC, Bluetooth (4.0), GPS and FM Radio, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This phone costs about $ 149, high for comparing with similar cellphones. If you will use it as a social phone, you will probably love this phone. This cellphone is sold with USB sync and charging cable and AC charger.
