Apple iPad 2 is slightly better than Galaxy Tab 8.9, getting a score of 62.1 against 58.1. The Apple iPad 2 has iOS 7.x OS, while Galaxy Tab 8.9 counts with Android 3.0 OS. The Apple iPad 2 is a noticeably heavier tablet device than Galaxy Tab 8.9, but both have the same thickness. Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a brighter display than iPad 2, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a better pixels density and a slightly better resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 features as much storage capacity to store more apps and games as the iPad 2, both of them have equal internal memory. The Apple iPad 2 features a bit more powerful processor than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, and although they both have 2 cores, the Apple iPad 2 also has an additional graphics co-processor.
Apple iPad 2 shoots slightly better videos and photos than Galaxy Tab 8.9, although it has a lower (HD) video resolution and a way less MP camera. The iPad 2 features a little longer battery performance than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a 16% more battery size.

So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the iPad 2, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, giving up a couple features and specs.
