Apple iPad mini has an overall score of 68.1, which is better than the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD's 57.6 overall score. The Apple iPad mini construction is just a bit thinner and a bit lighter than the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD. Apple iPad mini has iOS 8.x OS, and Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD counts with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD has a little faster processor than iPad mini, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics co-processor, it also counts with more RAM memory and a greater number of cores (and they are faster). Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD has a bit more vivid display than iPad mini, because it has a bit larger screen, a much better resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels and a way better display density.
The Apple iPad mini has a quite bigger memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, because although it has no slot for an SD memory card, it also counts with more internal memory capacity. The Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD has just a little better battery lifetime than iPad mini, because it has a 5100mAh battery size against 4440mAh.
The Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD features just a bit better camera than iPad mini, and although they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate and the same video definition, the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD also has a larger diafragm aperture to capture better low light photography and videos and a camera with much more megapixels.
The iPad mini is a little more expensive than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, but you can get a better tablet for that extra dollars.
