Acer ICONIA TAB A500 is a not so powerful Android device, counting with a big size 10.1-inches multi-touch capacitive display, a good performance 1 GHz Dual-Core CPU, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 2 megapixels front camera. Great! That's it? No, it's just the tip of the iceberg.

The Acer ICONIA TAB A500 is quite thick compared to today's devices, being as thick as 0.52 inches. This tablet is a compact portable tablet, taking into consideration it has a 10.1 inches screen and it only has 10.24" long and 6.97" wide. Apparently Acer forgot about optimizing the weight in this 25.75 ounces device.

Acer packed this tablet with a interesting 10.1-inches display, and a resolution of 800 x 1280 , making everything look quite good. This display uses LCD capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch gestures.

Acer decided to build this tablet with a great performance Dual-Core processing unit running at 1 gigahertz with 1 GB RAM. A good point of this tablet is its 16 GB quite big internal storage memory and a slot for an external memory card, enough to store hundreds of applications and games without running out of space.

The Acer ICONIA TAB A500 has Wi-Fi connection (but it can't be provided to other devices around, as a mobile mobile hotspot). This tablet doesn't use a SIM card, because it doesn't support GSM networks.

The Acer ICONIA TAB A500 features two cameras, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 2 megapixels front side camera. It is capable of shooting videos in 1280x720 (HD) at 29 fps. Additionally, the camera counts with auto-focus and flash.

This device features a big 3260 mAh Li-Polymer non-removable battery providing this tablet an incredible battery life. An issue to consider is that this device's battery isn't removable so you can't change it when it starts to have trouble holding its charge, whereas with such a huge battery size you will probably replace this tablet before it becomes a real problem.

This tablet also comes with a few interesting characteristics as Bluetooth (2.1, EDR) and GPS Geolocation, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This tablet is really overvalued considering it is offerred for 80 dollars, while other similar tablets cost a lot less than that. If you are looking for a social tablet, this portable tablet is probably a good choice .
