Sony Xperia 5 features much more storage for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Note Fan Edition, because it has more internal memory and a SD memory card expansion slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB. Sony Xperia 5 features a little faster CPU than Galaxy Note Fan Edition, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Sony Xperia 5 also has 2 GB more RAM.

The Sony Xperia 5 captures slightly better videos and photos than Galaxy Note Fan Edition, because although it has a tinier sensor taking worse quality photos and videos, and they both have a back-facing camera with a 12 megapixels, the same 3840x2160 video resolution and the same video frame rates, the Sony Xperia 5 also counts with a bigger aperture to capture better photography in low-light situations.

Samsung Galaxy Note Fan Edition features just a bit better battery duration than Xperia 5, because it has 3200mAh of battery capacity.

Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs more money than Galaxy Note Fan Edition, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Galaxy Note Fan Edition. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Xperia 5, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Galaxy Note Fan Edition, resigning some specs and features.
