Xperia 1 III has an overall score of 93.3, which is way better than Xiaomi Mi 5s's 76.4 overall score. Both phones in this review have Android OS (Operating System), but Xperia 1 III has the previous 11 version and Xiaomi Mi 5s has Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Xperia 1 III design has the same thickness than the Xiaomi Mi 5s, but it's way heavier.
The Xperia 1 III features just a little better hardware performance than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because it has more RAM memory and a larger number of faster cores. The Xperia 1 III features a bit more vivid display than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because it has a lot greater count of pixels per inch of screen, a larger screen and a lot higher 1644 x 3840 pixels resolution.
Xperia 1 III features a superior camera than Xiaomi Mi 5s, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 video definition and a 12 megapixels resolution back facing camera, the Xperia 1 III also has a lot larger back camera sensor which provides a lot better image and video quality, better 120 frames per second video frame rate and a larger aperture to take better low-light photos and videos.
The Xperia 1 III features a very superior memory capacity to store more games and applications than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because it has more internal memory capacity and an external memory slot that supports up to 1 TB. Xperia 1 III counts with a way better battery performance than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because it has a 41 percent bigger battery size.
Although Sony Xperia 1 III is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Xiaomi Mi 5s, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Xiaomi Mi 5s. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1 III, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Xiaomi Mi 5s, giving up a couple specs and features.
