The Sony Xperia 5 has a general score of 81, which is slightly better than the Galaxy S7 edge's 78.1 overall score. Sony Xperia 5 is a notably newer phone than the Galaxy S7 edge, but it's a little thicker and a little bit heavier. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge features a bit better screen than Xperia 5, because although it has a bit smaller screen, it also counts with a slightly higher 1440 x 2560px resolution and a just a bit higher screen pixel density.
The Sony Xperia 5 has just a little better processing power than Galaxy S7 edge, because it has 2 GB more RAM memory and a higher number of cores. The Galaxy S7 edge and Xperia 5 feature similar cameras, because although the Galaxy S7 edge has a tinier aperture, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the same 30 fps video frame rate and a back camera with a 12 MP resolution, it also counts with a larger sensor taking higher quality photos and videos.
Xperia 5 has a lot bigger memory capacity to store more apps and games than Galaxy S7 edge, because it has more internal storage capacity and a SD memory slot that admits a maximum of 512 GB. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge features just a little bit longer battery life than Sony Xperia 5, because it has 3600mAh of battery capacity.
Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Xperia 5, else you can save some dollars and buy the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, resigning a couple features and specs.
