Huawei Mate 8 is slightly better than the Xiaomi Mi 5, getting a 77.4 score against 73.7. Xiaomi Mi 5 counts with a sharper display than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a higher resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a much higher screen density. Huawei Mate 8 counts with much more memory to store more games and applications than Xiaomi Mi 5, because it has 128 GB internal storage and a slot for an SD memory card that supports up to 128 GB.
Xiaomi Mi 5 has a bit faster processor than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a lower number of cores (although faster) and a smaller amount of RAM memory, it also counts with an extra graphics processing unit. Huawei Mate 8 takes better pictures and videos than Xiaomi Mi 5, although it has a tinier aperture, they both have a same resolution camera in the back.
Huawei Mate 8 has a little better battery lifetime than Xiaomi Mi 5, because it has a 4000mAh battery size.
Although Huawei Mate 8 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Xiaomi Mi 5, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Xiaomi Mi 5. So if you want that extra features, you can buy the Huawei Mate 8, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Xiaomi Mi 5, letting go some specs and features.
