GIGABYTE GSmart Alto A2 Review

GIGABYTE GSmart Alto A2 is a fair quality phone, packing a very powerful 1.3 GHz Dual-Core processor, a comfortable 5" screen, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 0.3 megapixels front-facing camera.

Although this cellphone just has 5.75 inches long, it is still able to fit a a 5 inches display. The GIGABYTE GSmart Alto A2 is thin and comfortable, being just 0.37 inches thick.

Gigabyte designed this phone with a nice 5 inches screen, and a resolution of 854 x 480 , which makes all pictures and videos look quite good. This screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

Gigabyte decided to power this cellphone with an extremely fast 1.3 gigahertz Dual-Core processor, packed into a MediaTek MT6572 chip and only 1 GB of RAM memory which is a bit low for a device of this level. Graphic intensive games and apps generally uses lots of processing time, so it uses a 500 megahertz ARM Mali-400 graphic processing unit to help handle those graphic tasks.

This phone is equipped with two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 0.3 megapixels front camera. In addition, this cellphone's camera also counts with a couple of nice features: auto-focus, flash and HDR mode.

The GIGABYTE GSmart Alto A2 packs a good 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is quite poor for a thirsty phone like this. According to Gigabyte, this phone has a reported talk time of 3.5 hours and a stand by time of 150 hs.

The GIGABYTE GSmart Alto A2 provides Wi-Fi connection (although it can't be shared with other devices around, acting as a mobile hotspot), HSPA+ (4G) internet connection, which is not so fast as LTE or LTE-A 4G networks and fast 3G connectivity, supported by HSDPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This phone supports dual sim cards so it's able to work with 2 different phone numbers or carriers at the same time.

This device also comes with a handful of useful features as Bluetooth (for communication with other bluetooth phones and accessories), GPS Localization and Radio, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This cellphone is priced around $ 155, which is not cheap for a phone this level.
