Gionee Elife S5.5 Review

Gionee Elife S5.5 is an interesting phone, packed with an extremely fast Octa-Core processor clocking at 1700 MHz, a quite big 5-inches multi-touch display, and 2 cameras, a 13 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 5 megapixels front-facing camera. That's all? Not at all, it's only the beginning.

Gionee decided to equip the Gionee Elife S5.5 using an extremely fast 1700 megahertz Octa-Core processor, bundled in a Mediatek MTK 6592 chip and a large 2 GB RAM memory. Graphic intensive applications generally consume lots of CPU time, so the Gionee Elife S5.5 also has an extra 700 MHz ARM Mali-450 MP4 GPU to improve overall performance. A good advantage of the Gionee Elife S5.5 is its big 16 GB internal storage and although it doesn't have an SD memory card expansion slot, it should be enough to store a couple hundred apps and games, but it might not be suitable if you are planning to install a couple of the largest games available nowadays or taking tons of photos and videos.

This device is just 5.71" long and 2.76 inches wide, but it manages to hold a 5 inches display. Being just 0.22" thick,this cellphone is extremely slim and stilized. This phone is sold in a wide range of colors like black, purple, pink, blue and white. Talking about its construction quality, this phone is mainly manufactured with Glass.

Gionee equipped the Gionee Elife S5.5 with an absolutely amazing 5 inches display, and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Full HD), giving this cellphone a unique graphical experience. This display uses Super AMOLED Plus capacitive technology, and has multi-touch detection.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 has Wi-Fi capability (but it can't be provided to other devices around, acting as a mobile hotspot), 4G HSPA+ data connection, which is not as fast as LTE-A or LTE 4G networks and fast 3G connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This phone works with a Micro SIM card for GSM services.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 features two cameras, a 13 mega-pixels back side camera and a 5 mega-pixels front-facing camera. The Gionee Elife S5.5 can also film 1920x1080 Full HD videos at 30 fps. To complete the camera, it also counts with some good characteristics: flash, face detection shooting and auto-focus.

This cellphone also includes some interesting characteristics as Bluetooth (enables communication with other devices and accessories), GPS Geolocation and FM Radio, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This phone counts with a 2300 mAh high capacity Li-Polymer non-removable battery, which isn't very much for a phone like this. According to Gionee, the Gionee Elife S5.5 has a reported 580 hours stand by time and a 27 hours talk time. An issue to take into consideration is that this cellphone's battery is not replaceable so you won't be able to replace it when it starts to get older, though with such a big battery you will probably buy a new phone before it becomes a real problem.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 is really expensive considering it is priced 249 dollars, while many similar cellphones are offerred way cheaper than that. This cellphone is probably the right one for you if you want a social device or want a cellphone for playing games.
