Kyocera Hydro Icon Review

Kyocera Hydro Icon is a good quality Android phone, having a high performance Quad-Core processor clocking at 1.2 gigahertz, a 4.5" capacitive touch-screen, an 8 mega-pixels back camera and a 2 MP front facing camera.

This cellphone is powered by a high-tech 1200 MHz Quad-Core CPU, bundled in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 8926 system chip and a great 1,5 GB RAM memory. Graphic intensive applications often consume lots of CPU time, so this cellphone counts with an extra Adreno 305 GPU working at 450 MHz to unload the CPU. This cellphone has an interesting 8 GB internal storage and a slot for an SD memory card, which allows the user to store a couple hundred games and applications without any problem.

Kyocera appears to have forgotten about weight optimization in this 5.08 oz phone. This phone's thickness , 0.43", is quite far from nowadays standards, but it still feels in the hand. This cellphone is just 5.19" long and 2.57" wide, but it still manages to hold a 4.5" display. Kyocera only offers this phone in black color.

This phone is equipped with two cameras, an 8 megapixels back camera and a 2 MP front-facing camera. It is capable of filming videos up to 1920x1080 (Full HD) at 30 fps. In addition, the camera has some nice characteristics like auto-focus, flash, fast burst mode, HDR mode and geo tagging.

The Kyocera Hydro Icon includes a interesting 960 x 540 4.5 inches display, which makes it hard to distinguish the pixels taking part of the display. This display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

This phone includes wi-fi connectivity (and it can be shared with other devices acting as a wireless modem or router), LTE 4G high performance data connection and 3G data connection, over EV-DO A technologies. The Kyocera Hydro Icon doesn't use a SIM card, because it's not a GSM phone.

The Kyocera Hydro Icon uses a medium capacity 2000 mAh Li-Ion replaceable battery, which is quite poor for a demanding phone like this. Kyocera reports a 193 hs stand by time and a 14 hs talk time for this cellphone.

The Kyocera Hydro Icon also comes with lots of useful features like NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth (enables communication with other bluetooth phones, computers and accessories), GPS Geolocation and Radio, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This phone is really overvalued considering it costs 249 dollars, while other similar cellphones are sold for much less than that. No matter if you are looking for a gaming phone or are looking for a social device, you will probably be very satisfied with this phone.
