Samsung Omnia W Review

(I8350, I8350) Score: 58.1 / 100

Samsung Omnia W is a mid level phone released back in 2011, packed with a fast 1400 MHz CPU, a medium 3.7-inches multi-touch screen, a 5 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 0.3 MP front facing camera. But let's get into a bit more details.

This cellphone is quite slim and looks really nice, but it's not close to being one of the thinnest devices on sale, with a thickness of 0.43 inches. Samsung appears to have forgotten about weight optimization in this 4.07 oz cellphone.

This phone includes a interesting 3.7-inches screen with a 800 x 480 resolution, which makes it hard to see the pixels in the screen. Its screen uses Super AMOLED capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

This phone ships with a fast CPU clocking at 1.4 gigahertz with 512 MB RAM memory. Handling graphic rendering, it also uses a 320 megahertz ARM Mali-400 MP1 graphics processing unit. This phone comes with an 8 GB quite large internal storage memory and while it doesn't count with an external memory slot, it should be enough to install hundreds of games and applications, but it probably wouldn't be enough if you are fan of the largest games available nowadays.

This phone has two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back camera and a 0.3 mega-pixels front camera. It is capable of shooting HD 1280x720 videos at 30 fps. This camera also includes auto-focus and flash.

The Samsung Omnia W has a good 1500 mAh Li-Ion removable battery providing this device with a below average battery life. Samsung reports a talk time of 14 hours and a stand by time of 490 hours for this cellphone.

The Samsung Omnia W offers WiFi connectivity (but it can't provide it to other devices as a mobile hotspot) and the fastest 3G connectivity, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This phone uses a SIM card for GSM connection.

This device also features a few cool features as Bluetooth and GPS Localization, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

The Samsung Omnia W is really expensive considering it is priced 175 dollars, and many similar devices are sold for much less than that. The Samsung Omnia W is probably very appropiate for you if you want a cellphone mainly for internet broswing and social networks or want a cellphone for gaming.
