Sony Xperia XZ1 has a global score of 78.3, which is slightly better than the Xiaomi Mi 5's global score of 73.7. The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a more vivid screen than Xperia XZ1, and although they both have a same size display, the Xiaomi Mi 5 also has more pixels per display inch and a better resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The Xperia XZ1 features a much greater memory capacity to store more apps and games than Xiaomi Mi 5, and although they both have exactly the same internal memory, the Xperia XZ1 also has an external memory slot that admits up to 1,95 TB.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a very superior battery lifetime than Sony Xperia XZ1, because it has a 3600mAh battery size. Xperia XZ1 captures greater pictures and videos than Xiaomi Mi 5, because although it has a smaller diafragm aperture which is not so good for low light captures and video, it also counts with a back facing camera with a better resolution.
Although Xperia XZ1 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Xiaomi Mi 5, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Xiaomi Mi 5. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Xperia XZ1, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and get the Xiaomi Mi 5, giving up some specs and features.
