Apple iPhone 5s Review

Apple iPhone 5s is a great device launched in September 2013, counting with an extremely powerful 1.3 GHz Dual-Core 64-bit processor, a 4 inches multi-touch capacitive screen, and two cameras, an 8 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera.

This device is incredibly slim and stilized, with a thickness of just 0.3". This cellphone is sold in three colors, black, gray and gold. Talking about its design, the iPhone 5s is mainly built with Aluminium, which gives it a top level look and better resistance. Apple appears to have forgotten about weight optimization in this 3.95 oz device.

Apple designed this device with a beautiful 4" display, and a 1136 x 640 resolution, which makes all images and videos look vivid and colorful. This display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, with a brightness of 500 candela/m2 and has multi-touch detection.

Apple decided to sell this phone with a Apple A7 chip, backed up by a high-tech 64 bit Dual-Core CPU speeding at 1.3 gigahertz with only 1 GB RAM memory which is a little bit disappointing for a cellphone this powerful. Graphic calculations often uses lots of CPU processing time, so it also counts with a PowerVR G6430 GPU clocking at 600 MHz to unload the processor. A great point of this phone is the 64 GB astonishing internal storage memory and although it doesn't count with an SD memory slot, it is still enough to store lots of applications, games, songs, photos and videos without thinking about filling the cellphone.

This phone provides WiFi connection (and it can be shared with other devices around, as a mobile hotspot), LTE 4G high speed connection and also HSPA+ internet connection, a bit slower 4G type and 3G fast data connection, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Apple iPhone 5s uses a Nano SIM card for GSM connection and it can connect using both GSM and CDMA.

This phone is equipped with two cameras, an 8 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.2 mega-pixels front side camera. Its back facing camera lens has an aperture of f/2.2 so it can shoot sharp pictures even in low-light conditions. It is also able to film 1920x1080 Full HD videos at 30 frames per second, and 1280x720 HD slow-motion videos up to 120 frames per second. In addition, the camera includes a high number of great characteristics like auto-focus, flash, digital image stabilization, fast burst mode, face detection shooting, HDR mode, geo tagging and time lapse video.

This device comes with a 1570 mAh medium Li-Ion non-replaceable battery that provides this device a poor battery duration. Apple reports a 10 hs talk time and a 250 hours stand by time for this device. A big issue to take into consideration is that the iPhone 5s's battery isn't replaceable so you can't buy a new battery when it begins to get older, having to change the whole device.

The iPhone 5s also features a couple of useful features as Bluetooth (4.0) and GPS (Global Positioning System), and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This phone is being sold for about 270 dollars, not very cheap for a device this level.
