Samsung Galaxy Beam Review

(I8530) Score: 58.7 / 100

Samsung Galaxy Beam is a mid level cellphone released some years ago, in 2012, which features a medium sized 4" display, a fast 1000 megahertz Dual-Core processor, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 megapixels front camera. We will get a better idea about this device's characteristics when we get into specific details.

This time, it seems like Samsung didn't care much about the weight in this 5.13 ounces phone.

This device has a nice 800 x 480 4-inches screen, which makes all photos and videos look great. Its screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch gestures.

Samsung equipped this cellphone with a ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 system chip, holding a great performance Dual-Core processor clocking at 1000 megahertz and 768 MB of RAM. Collaborating with graphic rendering, this device also has an ARM Mali-400 GPU running at 500 megahertz. A nice aspect of this cellphone is its quite large 8 GB internal memory and an external SD slot, which allows the user to install a couple hundred apps without any problem.

This cellphone has two cameras, a 5 MP back facing camera and a 1.3 megapixels front-facing camera. This device can also capture videos up to 1280x720 (HD) at 30 frames per second. To complete the camera, it also includes some good features: auto-focus, flash, geo tagging and smile detection shooting.

The Beam uses a mid capacity 2000 mAh Li-Ion removable battery that provides this cellphone a poor battery duration.

This phone has wifi capability (although it can't provide it to other devices around, acting as a hotspot) and 3G fast connectivity, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This cellphone uses a SIM card to connect to GSM networks.

The Samsung Galaxy Beam also features a couple nice features as Bluetooth (provides communication with other bluetooth devices, computers, and accessories), GPS Geolocation and Radio, and some sensors likeLight Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Accelerometer.

Samsung is selling the Samsung Galaxy Beam for 120 dollars, which is a quite high price for a phone this level. If you will use it for playing games or want it mostly for internet broswing and social networks, you will definitely be very satisfied with this phone.
