ARCHOS 50c Oxygen Review

Score: 52.6 / 100

ARCHOS 50c Oxygen is a fair quality cellphone launched back in 2014, equipped with a good size 5" multi touch capacitive screen, a Octa-Core CPU speeding at 1.7 gigahertz, an 8 megapixels back side camera and a 2 megapixels front-facing camera.

Archos decided to equip this device with a Mediatek MT6592 system chip, which holds a high speed 1700 megahertz Octa-Core processing unit with only 1 GB of RAM which is a little bit poor for a cellphone this powerful. Graphic rendering often eats lots of CPU cycles, so this cellphone uses an extra 700 megahertz ARM Mali-450 MP4 graphic processing unit to help with that calculations. A good advantage of this cellphone is its 8 GB quite big internal storage memory and an SD card slot, allowing you to install a couple hundred games and applications without any trouble.

Archos made an excellent job making the ARCHOS 50c Oxygen weight only 4.94 oz. Being just 0.3 inches thick, this cellphone is thin and comfortable. This device only has 5.71" long and 2.75 inches wide, but it's able to fit a a 5 inches display.

This phone has a nice 5-inches screen with a 1280 x 720 (HD) resolution, which makes it hard to see the pixels taking part of the screen. This screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

This cellphone features two cameras, an 8 mega-pixels back camera and a 2 megapixels front camera. It is also able to shoot videos up to 1920x1080 (Full HD). Additionally, the camera counts with flash and auto-focus.

This phone features wi-fi connection (and it can be provided to other devices as a mobile hotspot), 4G HSPA+ connectivity, that is not so fast as LTE or LTE-A 4G networks and fast 3G connectivity, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA and EDGE technologies. The ARCHOS 50c Oxygen uses a SIM card for GSM networks.

This cellphone comes with a 2000 mAh mid capacity Li-Ion replaceable battery that provides this phone a quite short battery durationcompared to other phones.

The ARCHOS 50c Oxygen also comes with a few interesting features such as Bluetooth, GPS Geolocation and FM Radio, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This phone costs around $ 155, which is not a good offer for comparing with other similar cellphones.
