Micromax Canvas Duet II Review

(EG111) Score: 47.4 / 100

Micromax Canvas Duet II is a decently made device, featuring a quite big 5.3" multi touch display, a Quad-Core processing unit speeding at 1.2 gigahertz, an 8 MP back side camera and a 2 MP front camera.

This cellphone has an inspired design, with a thickness of just 0.39 inches. The Micromax Canvas Duet II just has 6.06" long and 3.03" wide, but it still manages to hold a 5.3" display. This cellphone is just available in black color. This cellphone feels much lighter than what one would expect from a phone of this size.

The Micromax Canvas Duet II includes a good level 1280 x 720 (HD) 5.3" screen, which makes it hard to distinguish the pixels composing the screen. This screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

Micromax decided to equip this phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8625Q system chip, packing an extremely fast Quad-Core processing unit ticking at 1200 megahertz with only 1 GB RAM which is a little low for such a solid cellphone. Graphic calculations usually uses lots of CPU time, so this phone also has an Adreno 203 graphic processing unit running at 245 MHz to unload the CPU.

This cellphone has wifi connectivity (although it can't provide it to other devices around, acting as a modem or router) and 3G data connection, over EV-DO A and EDGE technologies. The Micromax Canvas Duet II comes with 2 SIM cards to be able to to work with 2 different phone numbers and even different carriers in the same cellphone and it works with both CDMA and GSM carriers.

This device is equipped with two cameras, an 8 megapixels back camera and a 2 megapixels front side camera. In addition, the camera counts with flash and auto-focus.

This cellphone uses a 2300 mAh massive replaceable battery, which isn't very promising for a phone like this. Micromax informs a stand by time of 180 hours and a talk time of 6 hs for this cellphone.

This device also features a couple of nice characteristics such as Bluetooth (3.0), GPS (Global Positioning System) and Radio, and plenty of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The Micromax Canvas Duet II costs 249 dollars, expensive for this kind of cellphone.
