Samsung Ativ S Review

Samsung Ativ S is a very solid Windows Phone 8.1, 8 device launched in 2012, counting with an extremely fast 1.5 GHz Dual-Core processor, a 4.8 inches display, and two cameras, an 8 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 1.9 megapixels front side camera.

Samsung decided to equip the Samsung Ativ S using a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 chip, which holds an exceptional 1500 MHz Dual-Core CPU and only 1 GB of RAM memory which is a little low for a device of this quality. Collaborating with graphic calculations, it also has an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit ticking at 400 MHz. This device comes with a 16 GB interesting internal memory and a slot for an external memory card, allowing the user to install a couple hundred applications without any trouble.

Samsung has made a great design job making the Samsung Ativ S weight only 4.76 oz. This phone is thin, with a thickness of just 0.34". This cellphone is quite a compact phone, given that it packs a 4.8" screen and it is just 5.4 inches long and 2.78" wide.

This device features two cameras, an 8 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.9 megapixels front facing camera. This device can also shoot videos in Full HD 1920x1080 at 29 frames per second. Additionally, this phone's camera also counts with flash.

Samsung packed this phone with a high-tech 4.8" screen, and a 1280 x 720 (HD) resolution, giving this device a very detailed image quality. This screen uses Super AMOLED capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

This phone features WiFi connectivity (although it can't be provided to other devices around, acting as a router or modem), 4G (HSPA+) internet connection, that is not as fast as LTE or LTE-A 4G networks and 3G fast connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Samsung Ativ S works with a Micro SIM card to connect to GSM networks.

This cellphone features a great 2300 mAh Li-Ion battery, which isn't very promising for a phone like this. Samsung reports a talk time of 13 hs and a stand by time of 250 hours for this phone.

This phone also includes a few nice characteristics as Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth (for communication with other devices, computers, and accessories) and GPS Navigation, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This cellphone is not a good choice considering it costs $ 290, while other similar phones cost much less than that. The Samsung Ativ S is probably the right choice for you if you you love taking pictures, will use it to play lots of games, need a work cellphone or will use this cellphone mostly for internet broswing and social networks.
