Sony Xperia M2 Review

Sony Xperia M2 is a little bit outdated Android phone released in 2014, provisioned with a big 4.8 inches screen, a very powerful Quad-Core CPU running at 1200 megahertz and an 8 mega-pixels back facing camera. But let's get into much more detail.

This phone feels much lighter than what one would expect from a device like this. This phone is quite a compact phone, taking into consideration it features a 4.8" screen and it is only 5.5 inches long and 2.8" wide. The Sony Xperia M2 is just 0.34" thick, taking it to the thinnest phone's category. Sony is offering this cellphone in black, purple and white.

Sony decided to build this device with a Qualcomm MSM8226 system chip, backed up by an exceptional Quad-Core processor speeding at 1200 MHz and only 1 GB RAM memory which is a bit poor for a cellphone this powerful. Graphic intensive games and applications generally eats lots of CPU time, so this phone has an additional Adreno 305 graphic processing unit working at 450 megahertz to improve overall performance. This phone counts with an 8 GB quite large internal storage memory and a slot for external memory cards, enough to install a couple hundred applications and games without any trouble.

This phone is only equipped with an 8 megapixels back facing camera. The Sony Xperia M2 also captures 1920x1080 Full HD videos. Additionally, this device's camera also includes many useful features: auto-focus, flash, digital image stabilization, fast burst mode, face detection shooting, HDR mode, smile detection shooting and geo tagging.

This phone includes a good level 4.8 inches screen with a 960 x 540 resolution, which makes it hard to see the pixels forming the screen. Its screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch for gestures like pinch and zoom.

This cellphone includes wi-fi connectivity (and it can provide it to other devices acting as a wireless modem), 4G (HSPA+) internet connection, that is not so fast as LTE-A or LTE 4G networks and the fastest 3G internet connection, over HSDPA, HSUPA and EDGE technologies. This device works with a SIM card for GSM networks.

This phone also features some useful characteristics as NFC, Bluetooth (4.0) and GPS (Global Positioning System), and plenty of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This cellphone comes with a high capacity 2300 mAh Li-Ion battery that can keep it running for many hours, although you may need to charge it if you use it too much. According to Sony, the Sony Xperia M2 has a reported talk time of 14.2 hours and a stand by time of 693 hs.

This cellphone is very overvalued considering it costs 300 dollars, while many similar cellphones are being sold for much less than that. If you want it mainly for internet broswing and social networks or are looking for a cellphone to play games, you will definitely be very satisfied with this phone.
