Asus Fonepad Review

Score: 53.9 / 100

Asus Fonepad is a pretty good tablet launched many years ago, counting with a 7" multi touch screen, a great performance CPU ticking at 1.2 GHz, and two cameras, a 3 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.2 MP front facing camera.

Asus decided to sell this portable tablet with a Intel Atom Z2420 system chip, packing a powerful 1.2 GHz CPU and 1 GB RAM. A nice point of the Asus Fonepad is the 16 GB quite big internal storage memory and a slot for SD memory cards, which allows the user to install hundreds of games and applications without any problem.

Although this device only has 7.73 inches long and 4.73" wide, it is still able to fit a a 7" display. This tablet is thin and comfortable, but it's not close to being one of the thinnest tablets you can find, with a thickness of 0.41". The Asus Fonepad isn't very light for a tablet device of this size, weighting 11.99 oz. This tablet is available in 2 different color options, gray and gold.

This tablet has two cameras, a 3 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.2 megapixels front side camera. This camera also counts with auto-focus.

Asus designed this device with a very good 7 inches display, and a resolution of 800 x 1280 , providing this tablet with a very good image quality. Its display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and has multi-touch detection.

The Asus Fonepad provides WiFi connectivity (which it can share with other devices acting as a mobile hotspot), HSPA+ (4G) internet connection, which is not as fast as LTE-A or LTE 4G networks and fast 3G internet connection, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This tablet works with a Micro SIM card to connect to GSM networks.

This device packs a 4270 mAh great Li-Polymer removable battery that provides this device an amazing battery life.

This tablet also features a couple of useful characteristics such as Bluetooth (provides communication with other devices, computers, and accessories) and GPS (Global Positioning System), and plenty of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This tablet is not a very good choice considering it is offerred for 249 dollars, while many similar devices cost a lot less than that. It doesn't matter whether you need a device to mainly use social networks and internet browsing or need a tablet device for playing games, you will definitely love this portable tablet.
