HTC Jetstream Review

Score: 63.6 / 100

HTC Jetstream is a high-end portable tablet launched many years ago, featuring a large 10.1" multi touch capacitive screen, an extremely fast Dual-Core processor speeding at 1.5 GHz, and 2 cameras, an 8 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 MP front camera.

HTC decided to design this device using a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 APQ8060 chip, which holds a high performance 1.5 GHz Dual-Core CPU and only 1 GB of RAM which is a bit low for such a solid portable tablet. Graphic calculations often eats a lot of processing time, so it also also has a 266 MHz Adreno 220 GPU to unload the CPU. A good advantage of the HTC Jetstream is its 32 GB big internal storage and an SD memory card expansion slot, which allows the user to store lots of applications, games, songs, photos and videos without thinking about running out of space.

It seems like HTC didn't care much about the weight in this 25 ounces tablet. The HTC Jetstream is quite thick for today's standards, with its 0.51" thickness. The HTC Jetstream is quite a compact portable tablet, given that it packs a 10.1 inches screen and it is only 9.87 inches long. HTC just offers this tablet in black color.

HTC packed this tablet with a good level 10.1-inches screen, and a resolution of 768 x 1280 , giving this tablet a decent image quality. Its screen uses LCD capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch gestures.

This tablet has two cameras, an 8 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 mega-pixels front facing camera. It also captures Full HD 1920x1080 videos at 30 frames per second. Additionally, the camera has auto-focus and flash.

This tablet includes Wi-Fi connection (but it can't be provided to other devices as a mobile hotspot), LTE (4G) high speed connectivity and the fastest 3G internet connection, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This tablet works with a SIM card for GSM networks.

The HTC Jetstream comes with a large 7300 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery, enough to provide this tablet with a great battery life. An issue to consider is that the HTC Jetstream's battery is not removable so you can't change it when it starts to lose capacity, whereas with this big battery you will probably discard this tablet before that becomes an issue.

This tablet also comes with a couple useful characteristics as Bluetooth (3.0) and GPS, and a couple sensors likeLight Sensor and Accelerometer.

The HTC Jetstream costs 239 dollars, a really high price for a portable tablet this level. It doesn't matter whether you will use it as a social portable tablet, want it to take tons of photos, need a tablet to play tons of games or are looking for a work tablet, you will probably love this portable tablet.
