Huawei MediaPad Review

Score: 56.4 / 100

Huawei MediaPad is a solid Android tablet, which features a 1200 MHz Dual-Core CPU, a pretty large 7" display, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.3 MP front camera.

It appears that Huawei forgot about weight optimization in this 13.76 oz tablet. Even though this device is very thin it's not close to being one of the thinnest tablets in the market, with a thickness of 0.41". This device is only 7.48 inches long and 4.88 inches wide, but it is able to fit a a 7" screen.

The Huawei MediaPad is equipped with a fast Dual-Core processing unit speeding at 1.2 gigahertz, included in a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 system chip with 1 GB of RAM. Graphic calculations often eats lots of processing power, so it has an Adreno 220 graphic processing unit speeding at 266 megahertz to improve overall performance. The Huawei MediaPad counts with a medium 4 GB internal memory, which is adequate for most users having that this device also has a slot for an SD memory card to store pictures and videos.

The Huawei MediaPad is equipped with two cameras, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 mega-pixels front camera. It also shoots HD 1280x720 videos at 30 fps.

This tablet is equipped with a very good 7" screen with a 800 x 1280 resolution, giving this portable tablet a very good graphical experience. Its screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

This tablet offers Wi-Fi connection (but it can't provide it to other devices acting as a wireless modem) and 3G fast data connection, using HSDPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Huawei MediaPad uses a SIM card to use GSM services.

This tablet also includes a couple of interesting characteristics such as Bluetooth (2.1, EDR) and GPS, and a couple sensors likeAccelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

The Huawei MediaPad comes with an inmense 4100 mAh Li-Polymer non-removable battery, enough to provide this tablet with an extremely long battery duration. An issue to take into account is that the Huawei MediaPad's battery isn't removable so you won't be able to replace it when it begins losing capacity, whereas with its 4100 mAh you will probably buy a new tablet before that becomes an issue.

Huawei sells the Huawei MediaPad for $ 235, which is not a good offer for comparing with similar devices. This tablet is the correct choice it doesn't matter whether you want this portable tablet to play games or want a social tablet.
