Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 Review

Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 is a powerful tablet launched in December 2011, counting with an extremely powerful 1.2 GHz Dual-Core processing unit, a big 8.2" multi-touch screen, and two cameras, a 5 MP back-facing camera and a 1.3 MP front camera.

Motorola decided to sell this tablet with a TI OMAP4430 chip, holding an exceptional Dual-Core processor running at 1200 megahertz and only 1 GB RAM which is a little bit low for such a solid portable tablet. To handle graphic calculations, it also has a 304 MHz PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This tablet has an amazing 32 GB internal memory and even though it doesn't come with an external memory card slot, it is still enough to install hundreds of applications without worrying about filling the tablet.

Whereas the Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 is only 8.5 inches long, it manages to hold a 8.2" screen. The Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 has a wonderful design, with a thickness of just 0.35 inches. Apparently Motorola forgot about weight optimization in this 13.62 ounces tablet.

The Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 is equipped with two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 mega-pixels front facing camera. It is also able to shoot HD 1280x720 videos at 30 frames per second. Additionally, the camera includes flash and auto-focus.

This tablet is equipped with a good level 800 x 1280 8.2 inches screen, which makes all pictures and videos look good. Its screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

This tablet uses a great 3960 mAh Li-Ion non-replaceable battery providing this tablet an amazing battery duration. An issue to evaluate is that this tablet's battery isn't replaceable so you won't be able to replace it when it begins to lose its charge, while with its 3960 mAh you will probably replace this device before it happens.

This device offers wi-fi capability (and it can be provided to other devices acting as a router), LTE (4G) high speed connection type and 3G data connection, supported by EV-DO A technologies. The Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 doesn't use a SIM card, because it doesn't work with GSM services and it works with CDMA carriers.

This tablet also comes with a few useful characteristics such as Infrared Blaster, Bluetooth (provides communication with other tablets, computers and accessories) and GPS Navigation, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Barometer and Compass.

The Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 is not a very good choice considering it costs $ 300, and some similar devices are being sold much cheaper than that. It doesn't matter whether you are looking for a device for work, will use it majorly for social networks, want a portable tablet for playing games or are a photography fan, you will probably love this tablet.
