LAVA Iris X5 Review

Score: 50.1 / 100

LAVA Iris X5 is a mid level Android cellphone, coming with a good size 5-inches multi touch screen, an extremely fast 1300 MHz Quad-Core CPU, an 8 MP back-facing camera and a 5 MP front camera. We will get a better understanding of this phone's pros when we get into deeper details.

Lava decided to power this phone with a high speed Quad-Core processing unit ticking at 1.3 gigahertz and only 1 GB RAM which is a bit low comparing with its great processor. Graphic rendering usually consume lots of CPU cycles, so it counts with an additional Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU clocking at 250 MHz to help with that calculations. This cellphone counts with aquite big 8 GB internal storage memory and an external memory slot, enough to store hundreds of apps and games without running out of space.

This device is much lighter than what one would expect from a phone of this size. Lava is offering this phone in 3 different colors, black, gray and white. The LAVA Iris X5 is just 0.3" thick, making its way into the thinnest phones podium. This phone is a very compact phone, taking into consideration it packs a 5" display and it's only 5.65 inches long.

The LAVA Iris X5 features two cameras, an 8 megapixels back facing camera and a 5 mega-pixels front facing camera. It is also able to shoot videos in HD 1280x720. Additionally, the camera counts with a few interesting features like auto-focus, flash and geo tagging.

Lava packed this phone with a interesting 5 inches display, and a 1280 x 720 (HD) resolution, making everything look very good. This display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and has multi-touch detection.

The LAVA Iris X5 features wifi capability (although it can't be shared with other devices as a mobile hotspot) and 3G connectivity, supported by UMTS and EDGE technologies. This device supports dual SIM cards so it's able to use two different phone lines at the same time.

This cellphone counts with a 2100 mAh large Li-Ion replaceable battery, which isn't very promising for a phone like this. Lava says this device has a 6 hours talk time and a 200 hours stand by time.

This cellphone also features some cool characteristics like Bluetooth (for communication with other bluetooth devices, computers, and accessories), GPS and Radio, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The LAVA Iris X5 is not cheap at all considering it is sold for 249 dollars, while other similar cellphones are offerred way cheaper than that.
