Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE Review

(XT897) Score: 57.9 / 100

Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE is a quite good cellphone released in 2012, packed with a medium 4.3" touch-screen, a powerful Dual-Core CPU clocking at 1.5 GHz, and 2 cameras, an 8 mega-pixels back side camera and a 1.3 MP front facing camera.

This cellphone is quite thick for today's standards, with a thickness of 0.54 inches. Motorola didn't put much effort to reduce weight in this 6 ounces device, way heavier than other similar cellphones.

Motorola decided to build this phone using a good performance Dual-Core CPU ticking at 1500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM memory.

This phone has two cameras, an 8 MP back camera and a 1.3 mega-pixels front facing camera. It is also able to shoot Full HD 1920x1080 videos at 30 frames per second. The camera also counts with some nice characteristics like auto-focus, flash and geo tagging.

Motorola designed this phone with a good looking 4.3-inches screen, and a resolution of 960 x 540 , providing this cellphone with a very good image quality. Its screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

This cellphone packs a 1785 mAh medium sized Li-Ion replaceable battery that can keep it running for many hours, although you will need to charge it after some moderate to heavy usage. Motorola says this phone has a talk time of 7.5 hours and a stand by time of 220 hs.

The Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE includes Wi-Fi connection (but it can't be provided to other devices acting as a mobile hotspot), LTE (4G) fast connection and also HSPA+ connectivity, that is a lower speed 4G variation and 3G fast connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS, EV-DO A and EDGE technologies. This phone uses a SIM card for GSM connection and it works with both CDMA and GSM networks.

The Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE also comes with a few interesting features like NFC (to trigger actions, transfer data or make payments by holding your cellphone close to another NFC device or tag), Bluetooth and GPS Localization, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This cellphone is very overpriced considering it costs 330 dollars, and other similar phones are being sold much cheaper than that. No matter if you will use it as a gamer device or will use it as a social device, you will definitely love this cellphone.
