Samsung Galaxy Fame Review

Samsung Galaxy Fame is a mid-end cellphone launched back in 2013, provisioned with a 3.5-inches touch-screen, a powerful processor speeding at 1 gigahertz, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back camera and a 0.3 MP front camera.

This device is sold in 2 color options, blue and white. It seems like Samsung forgot about weight optimization in this 4.25 ounces phone. The Fame's thickness (0.46 inches) is quite far from nowadays standards, but it still feels right in the hand.

Samsung equipped this cellphone with a interesting 3.5" display, and a 480 x 320 resolution, which makes everything look good. Its display uses TFT capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

Samsung decided to power this cellphone with a great performance 1000 megahertz CPU and 512 MB of RAM. To handle graphic calculations, this device also counts with a Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU clocking at 250 MHz. The Fame counts with a medium 4 GB internal memory, which is enough for most users considering it also has an SD memory card expansion slot to store photos and videos and even some apps and games that allow external memory installation.

This phone has two cameras, a 5 MP back facing camera and a 0.3 MP front side camera. The Samsung Galaxy Fame can also film videos in 640x480 (VGA) at 25 fps. To complete the camera, it also counts with a few interesting characteristics like auto-focus, flash and smile detection shooting.

The Fame includes wi-fi connectivity (and it can share it with other devices around, as a mobile hotspot) and fast 3G internet connection, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This device uses a SIM card to connect to GSM networks.

This cellphone has a 1300 mAh medium capacity Li-Ion battery providing this phone with a below average battery duration. This cellphone has an aproximate 420 hs stand by time and a 8.7 hs talk time.

This cellphone also includes a few nice features such as NFC (to trigger actions, transfer data or make payments by holding your device close to another NFC device or tag), Bluetooth and GPS Geolocation, and a couple sensors likeProximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The Fame is very overpriced considering it is offerred for 249 dollars, while other similar devices can be found for much less money. It doesn't matter whether you will use it as a social phone or want a phone for playing games, you will probably be very happy with this cellphone.
