Motorola Milestone XT720 Review

Motorola Milestone XT720 is a mid level Android device launched in June 2010, featuring a quite powerful processing unit clocking at 720 MHz, a medium 3.7-inches multi-touch screen and an 8 megapixels back-facing camera.

This time, Motorola forgot about optimizing the weight, releasing a 5.64 ounces heavyweight product. The Motorola Milestone XT720's thickness (0.43 inches) is a little bit far from current standards, but it still feels fine in the user's hand.

This cellphone includes a very good 854 x 480 3.7 inches screen, which makes it hard to distinguish the pixels that compose the screen. This screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch gestures.

Motorola decided to build this phone using a fast processing unit clocking at 720 MHz, included in the TI OMAP3430 chip and only 256 MB of RAM. Graphic intensive games and applications generally eats lots of CPU time, so it also also has a PowerVR SGX530 GPU clocking at 200 MHz to help with that calculations. This phone has a 262,14 MB internal memory, a small quantity that could be enough for basic users considering this cellphone also has a slot for external memory cards to store photographs and videos.

This phone provides Wi-Fi connection (but it can't be provided to other devices as a mobile mobile hotspot) and fast 3G internet connection, over HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Motorola Milestone XT720 works with a SIM card for GSM carriers.

This cellphone only has an 8 megapixels back-facing camera. It can also shoot videos up to 1280x720 (HD) at 17 fps, and 720x480 slow-motion videos at 24 frames per second (0.8 times slower than normal videos). This phone also features a lot of amazing features like auto-focus, flash, digital image stabilization, fast burst mode, smile detection shooting, face detection shooting and geo tagging.

The Motorola Milestone XT720 features a good 1390 mAh Li-Ion removable battery that can keep it running for many hours, although you will probably find yourself looking for a place to charge it after some moderate use. According to Motorola, this phone has an aproximate 320 hours stand by time and a 9 hours talk time.

This phone also features a handful of interesting characteristics like Bluetooth (provides communication with other devices, computers, and accessories) and GPS (Global Positioning System), and plenty of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This cellphone is really overvalued considering it costs $ 155, while many similar cellphones can be found for much less money.
