Samsung Omnia 7 Review

(GT-I8700) Score: 52.4 / 100

Samsung Omnia 7 is a not so powerful Windows Phone 7.5 Mango cellphone released in October 2010, packed with a 5 megapixels back facing camera, a 4 inches multi touch display and a fast processor ticking at 1000 MHz. But it's time to get into more details.

The Samsung Omnia 7 ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 QSD8250 system chip, which holds a good performance processor speeding at 1000 megahertz. Graphic calculations often eats lots of CPU cycles, so it has an additional 128 MHz Adreno 200 graphics processing unit to unload the processor. The Samsung Omnia 7 comes with an 8 GB quite large internal storage memory and whereas it doesn't include an external memory card slot, it is enough to store hundreds of apps and games, although it might not be suitable if you are fan of the heaviest games available nowadays.

It appears that Samsung forgot about weight optimization in this 4.87 ounces cellphone. Whereas this cellphone is quite slim and comfortable it's not so thin as many other phones nowadays, with a thickness of 0.43 inches.

Samsung equipped this phone with a very good 4-inches display, and a 800 x 480 resolution, making everything look vivid. Its display uses Super AMOLED capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

This cellphone is equipped with only a 5 MP back facing camera. This cellphone also captures HD 1280x720 videos at 25 fps. Additionally, this phone's camera also features flash.

This phone includes Wi-Fi connectivity (but it can't provide it to other devices around, acting as a modem or router) and fast 3G connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This phone works with a SIM card for GSM carriers.

This cellphone also includes a handful of useful features such as Bluetooth and GPS Navigation, and some sensors likeLight Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Accelerometer.

This phone has a 1500 mAh medium capacity Li-Ion removable battery, which is not really enough for a consuming phone like this. According to Samsung, this phone has a reported 8.7 hs talk time and a 390 hs stand by time.

Samsung is selling this phone for $ 85, which is very expensive for this kind of cellphone.
