ZTE Optik Review

(V55) Score: 51.2 / 100

ZTE Optik is a mid-to-low level Android device released back in the year 2012, featuring a quite big 7 inches multi-touch display, a fast Dual-Core CPU ticking at 1200 megahertz, and two cameras, a 5 megapixels back side camera and a 2 mega-pixels front facing camera. But let's get into a bit more details.

The ZTE Optik is quite a compact tablet, considering it presents a 7 inches screen and it's only 7.6 inches long and 4.7 inches wide. The ZTE Optik is a bit thick compared to nowadays tablets, with a thickness of 0.52". ZTE didn't put much effort to reduce weight in this 14.11 ounces device, way heavier than other similar portable tablets.

ZTE decided to design this tablet using a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8660 system chip, including a great performance 1200 megahertz Dual-Core CPU with 1 GB RAM memory. Graphic calculations usually consume lots of CPU cycles, so it has an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit running at 266 megahertz to unload the CPU. This tablet comes with a 16 GB interesting internal storage and an SD memory card expansion slot, enough to store hundreds of games and apps without any problem.

ZTE equipped the ZTE Optik with a good level 7" display, and a resolution of 800 x 1280 , providing this tablet with a good level graphic quality.

This device includes wifi connectivity (and it can provide it to other devices acting as a mobile hotspot) and 3G data connection, supported by EV-DO A technologies. The ZTE Optik doesn't use a SIM card, because it doesn't support GSM services and it can work with CDMA carriers.

This tablet has two cameras, a 5 megapixels back side camera and a 2 mega-pixels front-facing camera.

This tablet also comes with a couple cool features as Bluetooth (2.1, EDR) and GPS Localization, and Accelerometer.

This tablet uses a big capacity 4000 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery that can keep it running for several hours and even reach the end of the day without charging it at all. An issue to consider is that this tablet's battery isn't removable so you can't buy a new battery when it begins to get older, although with such a great capacity you will probably buy a new tablet before that happens.

ZTE is offering the ZTE Optik for 200 dollars, which is very expensive for a device this level.
