ARCHOS 40 Cesium Review

Score: 48.3 / 100

ARCHOS 40 Cesium is a decently made phone, packed with an extremely powerful Quad-Core processing unit clocking at 1200 MHz, a medium sized 4-inches touch-screen, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 0.3 mega-pixels front facing camera. But it's time to get into much more detail.

Archos ships this device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 8212 chip, which holds an exceptional 1200 megahertz Quad-Core processor with only 512 MB RAM which is a little bit disappointing for such a powerful cellphone. Helping with graphic rendering, it also counts with a 400 MHz Adreno 302 graphic processing unit. The ARCHOS 40 Cesium counts with a 4 GB internal storage, a moderate quantity that should be adequate for the average user having that it also has an SD memory slot to store photos and videos.

This phone is a bit heavy comparing to other phones , with a weight of 4.44 oz. This cellphone is available in 3 different colors, black, yellow and blue. This device's thickness (0.41") is a little bit far from today's standards, but it still feels comfortable in the hand.

Archos equipped this phone with a nice 4" screen, and a 800 x 480 resolution, giving this phone a detailed graphical experience. This screen uses LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multiple fingers at the same time.

This cellphone has two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back side camera and a 0.3 mega-pixels front facing camera. This phone can also film videos in VGA 640x480. In addition, the camera features a few good characteristics like auto-focus, flash, face detection shooting and geo tagging.

This phone provides wi-fi connectivity (but it can't be shared with other devices around, as a mobile hotspot), 4G HSPA+ connectivity, which is not as fast as LTE or LTE-A 4G networks and fast 3G connection type, using HSDPA, HSUPA and EDGE technologies. This phone supports dual sim cards so it can to work with 2 different phone lines in the same device.

The ARCHOS 40 Cesium also features a handful of interesting characteristics as Bluetooth, GPS and FM Radio, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The ARCHOS 40 Cesium has a good 1950 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, which is quite low for a thirsty cellphone like this. Archos informs a stand by time of 208 hours and a talk time of 9.3 hours for this cellphone.

This phone is very expensive considering it is priced $ 249, and many similar cellphones are being sold much cheaper than that.
