Acer Iconia Tab A100 is a mid level portable tablet released many years ago, with a comfortable 7 inches multi-touch screen, a fast Dual-Core processing unit ticking at 1000 MHz, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 2 MP front camera.
Acer forgot about weight optimization in this 16.58 oz device, far heavier than other similar portable tablets. This tablet is a little thick compared to nowadays tablets, with a thickness of 0.52 inches. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 is just 7.68" long, but it manages to hold a 7 inches display. Acer made this tablet in black and blue.
Acer packed the Acer Iconia Tab A100 with a interesting 7 inches screen, and a resolution of 600 x 1024 , which makes everything look good. This screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.
Acer decided to build this device with a good performance 1000 MHz Dual-Core processing unit, bundled in the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip and 1 GB of RAM. A nice point of this tablet is its 8 GB quite large internal memory and an SD card slot, which allows the user to install a couple hundred games and applications without any trouble.
This tablet features two cameras, a 5 MP back side camera and a 2 megapixels front camera. To complete the camera, it also features flash and auto-focus.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 uses a medium sized 1530 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery, which is quite low for a consuming tablet like this. A big issue to evaluate is that the Acer Iconia Tab A100's battery is not replaceable so you won't be able to replace it when it starts to lose capacity, leaving no choice but to buy a new tablet.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 offers WiFi connection (although it can't provide it to other devices as a mobile hotspot) and 3G fast connectivity, over HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 works with a SIM card for GSM connection.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 also comes with a couple of useful characteristics as Bluetooth (2.1, EDR) and GPS Geolocation, and some sensors likeAccelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.
This tablet costs $ 150, which is not a really offer for comparing with other similar tablets.
