Acer Iconia Tab A100 Review

8 GB Wi-Fi     See other variants reviews Score: 50.4 / 100

Acer Iconia Tab A100 is a decently made tablet device released some years ago, in 2011, packed with a Dual-Core CPU ticking at 1000 MHz, a good size 7-inches multi-touch capacitive screen, a 5 MP back camera and a 2 megapixels front side camera.

This tablet is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip, backed up by a fast 1 GHz Dual-Core processing unit with 1 GB of RAM memory. A good aspect of this device is its quite large 8 GB internal storage memory and a slot for external memory cards, allowing you to store a couple hundred games and apps without any trouble.

The Acer Iconia Tab A100 is a very compact tablet, considering it packs a 7 inches screen and it only has 7.68 inches long and 4.61" wide. This tablet is quite thick for today's standards, being as thick as 0.52". Acer made the Acer Iconia Tab A100 in two colors, black and blue. Acer forgot about weight optimization in this 16.58 ounces tablet device, much heavier than other similar portable tablets.

Acer packed the Acer Iconia Tab A100 with a nice 7-inches display, and a resolution of 600 x 1024 , which makes all photos and videos look quite vivid. Its display uses TFT capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

This device features WiFi capability (but it can't share it with other devices around, acting as a hotspot) and 3G fast connectivity, over HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 works with a SIM card for GSM connection.

The Acer Iconia Tab A100 is equipped with two cameras, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 2 MP front facing camera. This camera also includes flash and auto-focus.

The Acer Iconia Tab A100 also comes with a handful of nice characteristics like Bluetooth (provides communication with other tablet devices and accessories) and GPS (Global Positioning System), and a couple sensors likeAccelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This device counts with a 1530 mAh mid capacity Li-Ion non-replaceable battery providing this tablet with a not very long battery life. A key issue to take into account is that this tablet's battery is not replaceable so you can't throw it away and buy a new one when it starts to live shorter, having to buy a new tablet device to "solve it" or hopefully take it to an expert who can disassemble the tablet and replace the battery.

The Acer Iconia Tab A100 costs about $ 150, not a really offer for a tablet this level.
