Apple iPad Air is a wonderful portable tablet released many years ago, counting with a very powerful 1.4 GHz Dual-Core CPU, a big size 9.7" multi touch screen, and 2 cameras, a 5 MP back camera and a 1.2 megapixels front facing camera. That's all? No, it's only the starting point of this extreme review.
Apple decided to design this tablet using a Apple A7 chip, packing a great 1.4 gigahertz Dual-Core 64 bits processor and only 1 GB of RAM memory which is a bit low considering its great CPU. To help with graphic intensive games and applications, it also has a 600 MHz PowerVR G6430 graphics processing unit. A key advantage of the iPad Air is its 32 GB huge internal memory and although it doesn't count with a slot for an external memory card, it it is more than enough to store hundreds of applications without thinking about running out of space.
This tablet is quite a compact portable tablet, given that it features a 9.7 inches screen and it is just 9.45" long and 6.67" wide. This device is incredibly slim, with a thickness of just 0.3 inches. Regarding its design, the iPad Air is mostly manufactured with Aluminium, which gives it a high quality look and better resistance. The iPad Air is much lighter than what one would expect from a device of this size. The Apple iPad Air is for sale in 3 color options, black, gray and white.
Apple packed this device with a good level 9.7-inches screen, and a 1536 x 2048 resolution, which makes it hard to see the pixels forming the screen. Its screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.
This tablet is equipped with two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back camera and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera. It can also film videos up to 1920x1080 (Full HD) at 30 fps. The camera also includes a high number of interesting characteristics: auto-focus, face detection shooting, digital image stabilization, time lapse video, HDR mode and geo tagging.
This device comes with amassive 8820 mAh Li-Polymer non-replaceable battery that can keep this tablet running for many hours without having to charge it. An issue to take into account is that this tablet's battery is non-removable so you can't throw it away and buy a new one when it begins losing capacity, although with its 8820 mAh you will probably buy a new tablet before it becomes a real problem.
The iPad Air counts with Wi-Fi capability (and it can share it with other devices acting as a wireless router), 4G (LTE) high performance internet connection and fast 3G connectivity, over HSPA, EV-DO A, EV-DO B and EDGE technologies. This tablet works with a Nano SIM card for GSM carriers.
The iPad Air also features a few interesting features as Bluetooth (for communication with other bluetooth tablet devices and accessories) and GPS Navigation, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.
The iPad Air is a little bit expensive considering it is priced $ 211, and many similar tablet devices are sold for a bit less than that. It doesn't matter whether you are looking for a tablet mostly for internet broswing and social networks, are a photography fan, want a portable tablet to play lots of games or are looking for a work tablet, you will probably be very happy with this device. If you buy the iPad Air you will also get USB Power Adapter and Lightning to USB Cable.
