Apple iPad Air Review

Apple iPad Air is a high-end tablet launched in October 2013, coming with an extremely powerful 64 bits Dual-Core processor clocking at 1400 megahertz, a large 9.7 inches touch-screen, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.2 mega-pixels front camera.

Apple sells this tablet with a Apple A7 chip, packing a high speed Dual-Core processor clocking at 1400 megahertz and only 1 GB RAM which is a bit disappointing for a tablet of this level. Graphic rendering generally eats lots of processing power, so the iPad Air counts with an additional 600 megahertz PowerVR G6430 GPU to help with that calculations. A great advantage of this tablet is its 64 GB big internal storage memory and even though it doesn't come with a slot for an SD memory card, it is still enough to store hundreds of applications without having to worry about filling it.

This device is much lighter than what one would think about a portable tablet like this. About its construction, the Apple iPad Air is mostly made of Aluminium, giving it a premium design and better resistance. The iPad Air is offerred in 3 different color options, black, gray and white. The Apple iPad Air has a beautiful design, with a thickness of just 0.3 inches. Though this device is only 9.45 inches long, it still manages to contain a 9.7" display.

This device is equipped with a nice 9.7" screen with a 1536 x 2048 resolution, which makes all pictures and videos look very nice. Its screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch gestures.

This tablet counts with WiFi capability (and it can be shared with other devices acting as a mobile hotspot), LTE 4G fast connectivity and the fastest 3G connectivity, supported by HSPA, UMTS, EV-DO A, EV-DO B and EDGE technologies. This tablet uses a Nano SIM card to connect to GSM networks and it can connect using both GSM and CDMA.

This tablet features two cameras, a 5 megapixels back side camera and a 1.2 megapixels front-facing camera. It is capable of capturing videos in 1920x1080 (Full HD) at 30 frames per second. In addition, the camera has a large number of valuable characteristics like auto-focus, face detection shooting, digital image stabilization, time lapse video, HDR mode and geo tagging.

This tablet also includes a handful of useful characteristics as Bluetooth (4.0) and GPS Geolocation, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

The Apple iPad Air counts with a 8820 mAh incredible Li-Polymer non-removable battery that can keep it running for several hours and even reach the end of the day without charging it. An issue to take into account is that this tablet's battery isn't removable so you won't be able to replace it when it starts to live shorter, while with such a big battery you will probably replace this tablet before that becomes a real problem.

The iPad Air might be a little bit overvalued considering it costs $ 380, and many similar tablets cost less than that.
