LAVA Iris X1 Review

LAVA Iris X1 is a mid-end phone, including a 4.5 inches multi touch display, a Quad-Core CPU speeding at 1.2 gigahertz, and two cameras, an 8 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 2 megapixels front side camera. That's all? Not at all, it's just the starting point.

This phone ships with a Broadcom BCM23550 chip, packing an extremely powerful 1200 MHz Quad-Core CPU with only 1 GB of RAM memory which is a little low considering the LAVA Iris X1's powerful processor. Graphic intensive games and apps generally consume lots of processing power, so this cellphone uses a Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU working at 250 MHz to take care of them, leaving the CPU free for other tasks. The LAVA Iris X1 counts with an 8 GB quite big internal memory and an SD memory slot, enough to store a couple hundred applications and games without any problem.

This device is available in lots of color options like black, gray, blue and white. Lava didn't seem to put much effort to reduce weight in this 4.87 ounces cellphone. This cellphone has an inspired design, with a thickness of just 0.35 inches.

Lava equipped this phone with a nice 4.5" screen, and a resolution of 854 x 480 , which makes everything look great. Its screen uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

The LAVA Iris X1 is equipped with two cameras, an 8 mega-pixels back camera and a 2 MP front facing camera. this phone's back camera lens has a F2.2 aperture so it can take great photographs even in poorly lit environments. It can also shoot videos in 1920x1080 (Full HD). Additionally, the camera features some good characteristics like auto-focus, flash and geo tagging.

The LAVA Iris X1 counts with wi-fi connection (but it can't be shared with other devices around, acting as a router or modem) and 3G connection type, using UMTS and EDGE technologies. This cellphone supports dual sim cards so it's able to use two different phone lines or carriers in the same cellphone.

This phone features a good 1800 mAh Li-Ion replaceable battery, which is quite poor for a thirsty phone like this.

This cellphone also features some interesting characteristics such as Bluetooth (enables communication with other bluetooth devices, computers, and accessories), GPS and FM Radio, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The LAVA Iris X1 is very expensive considering it is sold for 95 dollars, and many similar cellphones are offerred way cheaper than that.
