Barnes & Noble Nook HD Review

16 GB     See other variants reviews Score: 41.8 / 100

Barnes & Noble Nook HD is a low end Android tablet released in September 2012, equipped with an extremely powerful 1300 megahertz Dual-Core processing unit and a pretty large 7-inches multi touch display.

Barnes & Noble didn't seem to put much effort to reduce weight in this 11.11 ounces tablet. This tablet is quite slim and looks really nice, while it's not close to being one of the thinnest portable tablets on sale, with a thickness of 0.43".

Barnes & Noble packed this tablet with a interesting 7 inches display, and a 900 x 1440 resolution, providing this tablet with a good level graphical experience. Its display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

Barnes & Noble decided to sell this tablet device with a TI OMAP4470 system chip, including a great 1.3 GHz Dual-Core CPU and only 1 GB RAM which is a little low for such a solid device. Graphic rendering usually consume a lot of processing power, so this tablet uses an additional PowerVR SGX544 GPU running at 384 MHz to help handle those graphic tasks. A nice aspect of the Barnes & Noble Nook HD is its 16 GB quite large internal storage and an external memory card slot, allowing the user to install hundreds of apps and games without any trouble.

This device has Wi-Fi capability (although it can't provide it to other devices as a mobile hotspot). The Barnes & Noble Nook HD doesn't have a SIM card, because it's not a GSM enabled tablet device.

This device doesn't have any cameras.

Barnes & Noble sells this tablet for $ 219, which is a very high price for a tablet this level. This tablet is sold with USB Cable, Power Adapter, Quick Start Guide and NOOK Tablet.
