HP TouchPad is a quite basic webOS portable tablet launched in 2011, which features a fast Dual-Core CPU clocking at 1.2 gigahertz, a 1.3 mega-pixels front-facing camera and a 9.7" multi touch display.
HP decided to sell this tablet with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 APQ8060 system chip, backed up by a great performance 1200 megahertz Dual-Core CPU. Graphic calculations generally consume a lot of processing time, so this tablet also also has an Adreno 220 GPU clocking at 266 megahertz to help handle those graphic tasks. A good point of this tablet is its big 32 GB internal memory and whereas it doesn't have an SD extension slot, it it is more than enough to store hundreds of applications without thinking about running out of space.
HP made this deviceavailable only in color white. This tablet is a little bit thick for today's standards, with a thickness of 0.54 inches. This tablet just has 9.45" long and 7.45 inches wide, but it still manages to hold a 9.7" screen. HP didn't seem to put much effort to reduce weight in this 26.1 ounces tablet.
This tablet only has a 1.3 mega-pixels front side camera.
This tablet has a 6300 mAh huge Li-Ion non-replaceable battery that can keep this tablet running for several hours and even reach the end of the day without charging it. An issue to consider is that this tablet's battery is not replaceable so you won't be able to replace it when it starts to live shorter, whereas with so much capacity you will probably discard this tablet before it becomes a real problem.
This tablet provides wifi capability (although it can't be provided to other devices acting as a router). The HP TouchPad doesn't use a SIM card, because it is not a GSM enabled portable tablet.
The HP TouchPad also includes a few interesting characteristics such as Bluetooth and GPS, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.
HP sells the HP TouchPad for 395 dollars, which is not a really offer for this kind of tablet.
