HP TouchPad Review

16 GB     See other variants reviews Score: 39.2 / 100

HP TouchPad is a modest webOS tablet launched back in 2011, provisioned with an enormous 9.7-inches multi-touch capacitive screen, a 1.3 MP front facing camera and a powerful 1200 megahertz Dual-Core processing unit. We will get a better idea about this tablet's pros when we get into specific details.

Apparently HP decided not to care much about the weight in this 26.1 oz tablet. HP is offering this device in color white. The HP TouchPad is a little thick for current standards, being as thick as 0.54". This tablet is just 9.45 inches long and 7.45" wide, but it still manages to hold a 9.7 inches screen.

HP sells the HP TouchPad with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 APQ8060 system chip, backed up by a fast Dual-Core processor speeding at 1200 megahertz. Graphic calculations often eats a lot of processing power, so this tablet also uses a 266 MHz Adreno 220 graphic processing unit to help handle those graphic tasks. A nice advantage of this tablet is its 16 GB quite large internal storage and even though it doesn't have an SD card slot, it is enough to install hundreds of applications and games, but it probably wouldn't be enough if you are fan of the largest games currently available.

The HP TouchPad has wi-fi capability (although it can't provide it to other devices around, as a mobile mobile hotspot). This tablet doesn't use a SIM card, because it's not a GSM enabled device.

This tablet has only a 1.3 MP front-facing camera.

The HP TouchPad has a big capacity 6300 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery that can keep it running for many hours and even reach the end of the day without charging it. An issue to take into account is that the HP TouchPad's battery is non-replaceable so you can't buy a new battery when it begins to have trouble holding its charge, whereas with so much capacity you will probably discard this portable tablet before that becomes a real problem.

This tablet also comes with a few nice features like Bluetooth (allows communication with other bluetooth tablets and accessories) and GPS Geolocation, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This tablet is very overvalued considering it is offerred for $ 370, while many similar devices are being sold much cheaper than that.
