HTC Flyer Review

HTC Flyer is a good quality Android portable tablet released many years ago, counting with a powerful 1.5 gigahertz processing unit, a comfortable 7 inches capacitive display, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 mega-pixels front side camera.

The HTC Flyer is quite heavy comparing with today standards, weighting 14.82 oz. The HTC Flyer just has 7.69 inches long and 4.8 inches wide, but it manages to hold a 7 inches display. This tablet is a little thick compared to nowadays tablets, being as thick as 0.52".

HTC equipped this tablet with a good 7 inches display, and a 600 x 1024 resolution, which makes all images and movies look quite colorful and brightful. This display uses TFT capacitive technology, and has multi-touch detection.

The HTC Flyer is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8255 chip, packing a great performance processing unit running at 1500 megahertz and 1 GB RAM memory. Graphic intensive applications and games often consume lots of processor cycles, so it counts with an Adreno 205 GPU speeding at 245 MHz to help the processor with those tasks. An excellent aspect of this tablet is the 32 GB big internal memory and a slot for an external memory card, allowing the user to store hundreds of applications and even the largest games currently available without worrying about filling the tablet.

This tablet offers Wi-Fi connection (but it can't be shared with other devices around, acting as a hotspot) and fast 3G connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The HTC Flyer uses a SIM card to connect to GSM networks.

This tablet features two cameras, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.3 MP front facing camera. It is also able to film videos in 1280x720 (HD) at 30 frames per second. This tablet also includes auto-focus.

The HTC Flyer also includes a handful of useful features as Bluetooth (provides communication with other bluetooth tablets, computers and accessories) and GPS Geolocation, and a couple sensors likeLight Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The HTC Flyer counts with a 4000 mAh massive Li-Ion non-removable battery that provides the HTC Flyer an impressive battery duration. An issue to consider is that the HTC Flyer's battery isn't replaceable so you can't buy a new battery when it starts to have trouble holding its charge, even though having 4000 mAh you will probably replace this tablet before it becomes an issue.

The HTC Flyer is being sold for about $ 265, which is expensive for this type of tablet. The HTC Flyer is definitely the correct choice it doesn't matter whether you are looking for a work portable tablet, want it mostly for internet broswing and social networks or need a tablet device for playing games.
